Mrs. Elginia Doris Reichard, age 80, passed away peacefully, at her home, with family, after a two year courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014. Elginia was born August 17, 1933. She was the daughter of Silvio and Ida Amendola, who preceded her in death.

She married Gene Glenn Reichard in July of 1953, and had been married forty one years when her husband preceded her in death. Jean graduated from St. Patrick's and East High School. Jean loved being a member of Mount Calvary Church, she was active helping wherever and whenever needed, volunteering for project head start programs, the PTA and school lunch programs. She most recently was the president of the Seniors Group for over ten years. She was a woman of amazing faith and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Mrs. Reichard retired from the Boston Store/ Horne's, where she loved working in the children's department. Mom was active at the Harborcreek Y, and could be seen there daily with the silver sneakers group, swimming or walking. She was a resident of Lawrence Park for over 57 years, and also loved the library. She loved working in the yard, tending to her flowers and trees and feeding the birds.

Elginia was also preceded in death by her brothers Arnold (Shirley) Amendola and Lester (Susan) Amendola and a sister Doris (Dominic) Tiblandi.

She is survived by a son David Jeffery Reichard, wife Patricia of Charlotte, North Carolina, a daughter Kathleen Becker, and husband Art Becker of Erie, Pa.; Grandma cherished her grandchildren, Dr. Jeffery and Dr. Elizabeth Reichard, Julia and Luke Baer, Jane Reichard, Senior Airman Daniel and Karli Becker, and Kristine Marie Becker. Elginia was also expecting a first great-grandchild. She is survived by sister's Anita and Alice and a brother Roger Amendola. She loved and enjoyed her many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St., on Friday, February 28th from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and are invited for a celebration of her life at Mount Calvary Church on Saturday, March 1st at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
