Gertrude L. McMillen Goughnour, 93, of Greene Township, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Marion Center, Indiana County, Pa., on November 24, 1920, a daughter of the late Harry and Lola Learn McMillen. She was a resident of Erie most of her life and lived in the home she built with her husband, until a recent move to Independence Court.

She was employed by Seneca High School and worked at General Electric in Erie, before her children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Russell J. Goughnour.

Gertrude is survived by one daughter, Sharon Goughnour Addis and her husband Troy of Sewickly, Pa., and her son Jeffrey Goughnour and his wife Christine of Erie; five grandchildren, Kolby and Craig Addis and Shelly, Chad and Brian Goughnour. Other survivors include her sister Thelma Deasey and her husband Don of North East; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Janice, Nicole, Joni, Rena, and Taliba for the loving care Gertrude received at home the last three years, and the staff of Independence Court for their care of Gertrude during her brief stay.
