Ann Marie Spirito Obituary

Ann Marie Spirito, age 94, of Strongsville, Ohio, and formerly of Erie, passed away in Strongsville on Monday, February 24, 2014. She was born in Erie on October 11, 1919, a daughter of the late Stanley Aleksiewicz and Anna Aleksiewicz Grochowski. She attended Academy High School and then married the late Jack Spirito who passed away in 1978. Her entire life was devoted to her family and to her church. She and Jack were founding members of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Spirito; six sisters, Josephine Rawa, Virginia Stolinski, Alfreda Grucza, Florence Mack, Esther Deutch, and Betty Figurski; along with five brothers, Stanley, Frank, Carl, and William Aleksiewicz and Raymond Grochowski.

Ann is survived by a daughter, Rose Ann Lundwall and her husband William, of Seville, Ohio; a son, Mark Spirito and his wife Christine of Strongsville, Ohio; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a brother, Henry Grochowski of Waynesboro, Va.; a sister, Mary Ann Tuzinski of New York; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Spirito of Erie; a sister-in-law, Mary Spirito of Arcadia, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Anthony Figurski of Erie; along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.), Erie, PA 16506 on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. till 8:30 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. till the time of prayers at 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506 with Father David Renne celebrant.
