Margaret M. "Peggy" Kennedy Appel, age 92, of Erie, died Friday, February 28, 2014, at Independence Court, Erie, Pennsylvania. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., November 9, 1921, a daughter of the late John Leo and DeSales Wentzel Kennedy.
A good wife and mother, Margaret was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John B. Appel, December 1, 2006 and two brothers, John Kennedy and William Kennedy. Peggy enjoyed life. Family always came first in her heart.
Survivors include three sons, Lawrence "Larry" Appel, wife Joan, of Tucson, Ariz., John P. "Jack" Appel, wife Pamela, of Apopka, Fla., and James T. "Jim" Appel, wife Cindy, of Fayetteville, Ga.; a daughter, Karen Appel Werle, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary Lawrie, of Erie; two brothers, Lawrence Kennedy, wife Marie and Paul Kennedy, wife Mona, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
No calling hours will be observed. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date with a private interment in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Pittsburgh. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street, handled local arrangements.
