Agnes Magdalen Haibach Waldinger Obituary

Agnes Magdalen Haibach Waldinger, 94, died peacefully at St. Mary's Home of Erie, East, on Sunday March 2, 2014. Agnes was born on May 7, 1919 in Erie, Pa., the youngest child of Charles and Mary Philomena (Eisert) Haibach.

Agnes was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters: Anna Marie Haibach Kreger, Elmer Haibach, Philomena Haibach, Charles Haibach, Lavina Haibach Graf, Vincent Haibach, Cecelia Haibach Reisenweber and Raymond Haibach.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Richard D. Waldinger, whom she married on April 12, 1947, beloved mother of Judith A. (Waldinger) Barthelmes and her husband Edward and the cherished grandmother of Matthew E. Barthelmes, Sarah E. Barthelmes and Emily M. Barthelmes. Agnes' grandchildren were the true lights of her life and brought her more joy than they will ever know. Agnes also enjoyed her grandpups: Missy, Mieke and Baron and grandkittens: Domino and Fogel.

Agnes was a graduate of St. Benedict Academy. She was a quiet and kind woman who was very strong in her faith and always prayed that God would take care of her family, both near and far. Agnes also had a feisty side and could be quite vocal and opinionated, especially when she was enjoying her Manhattans.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the chapel at St. Mary's Home East, on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dorothy Candib and the nurses and staff at St. Mary's East for the wonderful care Agnes received during the year and a half that she was in residence.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary's Home of Erie, 607 East 26th Street, Erie, PA 16504, or The ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
