John W. "JW" Bracken, 62, of Wayne St., Corry, Pa., died on Friday, February 28, 2014, at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa.

He was born in Corry, Pa., on September 22, 1951, a son of the late Robert M. and Mary Loveland Bracken.

JW was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1969. He then attended SMU in Dallas, Texas and Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa. He began his own construction company and worked throughout the area for many years. For the past several years, JW has operated his own landscaping and snow plowing business.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Corry, Pa. He enjoyed acting and was involved with various theater groups throughout the area, including the Brokenstraw Players and groups in Erie and Jamestown.

Little League was a large part of JW's life for many years. He had been coaching the UAW team in Little League for 32 years. He had been proud to mentor his players and continued to track their achievements after their playing days. JW was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Pirates and was involved in the local Fantasy Football leagues. He enjoyed golfing, trivia games, and spending time with his family at the cottage on Findley Lake.

JW is survived by his sister, Jeanne Bracken of Stuart, Fla.; two brothers, Robert L. Bracken of Midland Park, N.J., and Thomas A. Bracken and his wife Suky of Skillman, N.J.; two nieces, Amy Sinton and her husband Bob of Waldwick, N.J., and Tyler Bracken of New York City, N.Y.; two nephews, Christopher Bracken of Midland Park, N.J., and Michael Bracken and his wife Lindsay of New York City, N.Y.; two great-nieces, Morgan Sinton and Campbell Bracken and a great-nephew, Dylan Sinton. He is also survived by one aunt and many cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., and also on Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, 607 W. Smith St., Corry, Pa., from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 2 p.m. Rev. Larry A. Myers and Retired Lay Pastor Daniel McEldowney will co-officiate.

Burial will be made in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Corry Area Little League, PO Box 225, Corry, PA 16407-0225, or to First Presbyterian Church, 607 W. Smith St., Corry, PA. 16407.
