Helen (Helena Sima) Lipchik, age 87, of Joshua Tree, Calif., and formerly of Erie and Kissimmee, Fla., died at Loma Linda University Medical Center, in Loma Linda, Calif., Monday, March 10, 2014. Born in Erie, July 8, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John Sr. and Anna (Zsuravcsik) Sima.

Helen graduated from East High School in 1944. She later graduated from Orra-Jean Beauty Academy and worked in her sister Ann's beauty shop. Beginning in 1970, she worked alongside her husband John at Mid-City Golf Range, until her retirement in 1985. She was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and visits with family, friends, and neighbors. She made lifelong friends, cherished warm weather and all of nature's beauty.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Lipchik; two brothers, Andrew Sima, wife Anne, and John Sima; two sisters, Mary Dolak, husband John, and Anna Lipchik, husband Mike.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Boyce, husband Gary, of Joshua Tree, Calif.; her son, John Lipchik, wife Patty, of Erie; two brothers (twins) Peter Sima, wife Marge, of Erie, and Paul Sima, of Parma, Ohio; five grandchildren, Pamela, Cami, Mary, David and Brian; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Amanda; a great-great grandson, Kaleo, and many other family members and friends.

Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St., Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A Panachida Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friends may attend a service Saturday, at the funeral home, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
