Iva Dorathea Humes Millett, age 93, of North East, formerly of Crawford County, went home to see her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Millcreek Community Hospital.
Iva was born on May 28, 1920, to the late Charles Seth Humes and Hazel Delia Woodring Humes.
She graduated Cambridge Springs High School in 1938, Michaels Beauty School, Nurses Aide Studies at Meadville Hospital, and was a resident of Crawford County for 85 years, before moving to North East.
Iva was a seamstress who created all of her daughters wedding dresses. She was also formerly employed at Talon Zipper Company in Meadville and owned and operated a beauty salon from her home.
In earlier years, she was an active member of the Crawford County Grange Hall and enjoyed volunteering with the C.S. Ambulance Service, and was an avid bowler. She currently attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in North East.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis H. Millett, whom she married June 30, 1938; a sister, Mary Shearer; a son-in-law, Richard Palevich, and a great-grandchild.
She is survived by daughters, Lorna Palevich of Louisville, Ky., Lori (Kenneth) Snyder of North East, Rhonda (Milford) Blum of Waterford, Terri (Douglas) Robertson of Meadville, and Francine (William) Fails of Girard; a sister, Mable Drake of Cambridge Springs and a brother, Charles Lawrence Humes of California; 14 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews, of whom she was very proud.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Tuesday 1:00 pm until time a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Officiating the service is her grandson, Andy Robertson. Private interment at Venango Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 81 East Main Street, North East, PA 16428.
