Barbara Spinelli Bruno McGill, age 81, a longtime Erie resident, passed away peacefully, at home, on April 5, 2014, with family by her side. She was born April 18, 1932, in Erie, the daughter of the late Joseph Spinelli, Amelia Hart Spinelli Beers and stepfather Anthony Beers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Bruno and Harry McGill, and by siblings Robert Spinelli and Joyce Allen.

Barbara is survived by one daughter Pamela Bruno of Erie, a brother Joseph Spinelli and his wife Jeanette, a sister-in-law Carol Spinelli, and a sister Judith Galvin and her husband James, all of Erie; along with many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Barbara's 92 year old Uncle Patrick Hart.

Barbara was a graduate of Academy High School and worked for many years at GE and Erie Insurance until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, traveling and lived and worked for several years in San Diego, California, with her husband Harry. Barbara was active in the "51" Club with friends from Academy High School, Ruth, Carol and Dottie.

Her family would like to thank the Great Lakes Hospice staff, especially Janet and Veronica, for the wonderful care provided to their mother.

Barbara will be remembered as loving the Lord and was a devout Christian. She was an active member of Saint Patrick Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and was also a member of the choir and the Ave Maria Care & Concern Society. Because of her many volunteer efforts in the community and her church, she was knighted a "Lady" of the Saint Patrick Church Knights & Ladies organization. She was a "Committed Adorer" at Saint Joseph Church and a longtime volunteer at The Upper Room. Barbara was also active in her Cursillo Group and the Italian American Women's Association.

Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th and Liberty St., Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church.
