Marian E. (Richter) Howard, 82, of Girard, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at her home.

She was born April 30, 1931, in Astoria, N.Y., a daughter of the late Joseph and Elra (Goodman) Richter.

She graduated from John Hay High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1950, later graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art. During her working career, she had been employed by Gen. Armstrong at the Pentagon, later for the Cosmopolite Newspaper in Girard and various law firms in the area as secretary, most recently she had been employed by the Bel-Air Hotel.

Marian was well known in the Erie area for her artwork, which she had a passion for her entire life. She especially enjoyed watercolor arts and participated in many art shows in the area, conducting many of her own work as well.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Howard, October 4, 1988, in East Springfield.

She will be greatly missed by her family, which includes two daughters, Gloria A. Howard of Malvern, Pa., Lisa H. Kibler of East Springfield; a son, Tracy D. Howard (Roxanne) of East Springfield; a granddaughter, Megan E. Kibler of East Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday (today), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at Edder Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will be private, in the Springfield Cemetery.
