Eleanor "Ellie" Baranyai Bastian, of Canadohta Lake, formerly of Pittsburgh, died April 11, 2014, at Meadville Medical Center.
Born May 29, 1925, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Generosa "Gene" and Angelina (Peterino) Calfo. Wife of her late first husband, Frank Baranyai and late second husband, Randy Bastian. Ellie was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel. She was a member of the former Ladies of the Moose, the Union City American Legion, and the Sons and Daughters of Italy, and attended the Union City Senior Center.
Ellie is survived by sons, Frank L. Baranyai (wife, Judi) of Cochranton and Louie Baranyai (wife, Angie) of Meadville; daughters, Kathy DeRemer of Norrisville and Eleanor "Ellie" Luba Donnell (husband, Jim - her driver) of Meadville; brother, Andy Calfo (wife, Dottie) of Pittsburgh; sisters, Theresa Majkowski of Munhall and Angie Bunn (husband, Jim) of Florida; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; most importantly, her cat, "Lucky," whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelley Luba; brothers, Ben, Albert, Junior, Richard, and Jim Calfo; sisters, Francis Halbalieb and Rosemarie Calfo; and son-in-law, Scott DeRemer.
Family and friends will be received Sunday (today) from 2-9 p.m. at Michael S. Pandolph Funeral Home, Union City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima with Father F. Thomas Suppa officiating. Interment will follow in St. Teresa Cemetery, Union City.
