Esther Natalie Klugiewicz, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2014, at Sunrise Assisted Living. She was born in Erie, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Teofil Klugiewicz and Agnes (Filipiak) Klugiewicz.

Preceding her in death were one brother, Joseph Klugiewicz and two sisters, Aurelia Klugiewicz and Regina Lorelli.

She is survived by one brother, Aloysius Klugiewicz, and three sisters: Helen (Klugiewicz) Drabic, Marianne (Klugiewicz) Nicholl, and Alice (Klugiewicz) Wozniak, and also several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great- nephews.

Esther graduated from East High School and served in the United States Coast Guard, during World War II. She graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (Indiana University of Pennsylvania). She was a librarian on an Army base in Germany. She taught in the Erie School District. Esther worked at the Public Library and at Central Tech High School, as a Librarian, until she retired. She enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the world. She bought her first car in Germany and had it shipped back to Erie, Pennsylvania. She loved reading cookbooks and enjoyed a lifelong friendship with her "Termite" card club. Esther touched many lives with her gentle spirit and generous heart. She will be sadly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Raymond P. Blasco Library, 160 E. Front St., Erie, PA 16507, or to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning, at St. Casimir Church, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The Mark G. Razanauskas Funeral Home, 701 East Ave., Erie, is handling funeral arrangements.
