Joseph S. Serbati, age 52, of Erie, died Sunday, April 20th, 2014, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, October 19th, 1961, the son of Frank and Helen Rohan Serbati of Erie.
Joe graduated from Cathedral Prep and later obtained a Degree from Penn State, Dubois. Joe went on to Montana, where he spent several years as a big game guide. After returning to Pennsylvania and graduating from culinary school, he worked at several well-known Pittsburgh restaurants, including Tambellinis. Joe then obtained his Physical Therapy Assistant certification. After working at several Pittsburgh based hospitals, he moved to Ocean City, Maryland, where he worked at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, and most recently at Select Rehabilitation in Salisbury, Md. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, as well as football and wrestling. Joe was an outstanding athlete who made friends easily with people from all walks of life.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Sara Serbati of Charlottesville, Va., Maggie Serbati of Harrisonburg, Va., Matthew Serbati of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Olivia Serbati of Pittsburgh, Pa., and stepdaughter, Kylie Racioppo of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one brother, Frank Serbati wife Amy of Oil City, Pa.; one sister, Linda Waite husband Jack of S. Greensburg, Pa., along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and his friends in Maryland.
Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend services at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. John J. Mihalco officiating.
