Geraldine Hare Hutchinson, age 87, of North East, died on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at home.

She was born on December 18, 1926 in Ford City, Pa., to the late Marlon and Estella Kissick Hare.

Geraldine graduated from Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in New Castle where she obtained her nursing degree. She was involved with the Army Corp of Nurses during World War II and later was employed at Hamot Medical Center as an RN for several years.

She loved working with her late husband, Harold, where they co-owned H.R. Hutchinson Jewelers in North East for several years.

Geraldine was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Red Hat Society, and loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. (Hutch) Hutchinson (May 10, 2007); a brother, Marlon Hare; and a step-sister, Helen Turner.

Geraldine is survived by her sons, Philip Hutchinson (Elizabeth) of North East and Richard (Rick) Hutchinson of North East; daughters, Sheila Perretta of Lakeland, Fla. and Joyce Fuller of North East; brothers, Roger Hare (Mary) and Albert Booher (Pam), both of N.C.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1500 Freeport Road, North East. Officiating, Rev. John Coleman and Rev. Kenneth Laber. Interment Grahamville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507.
