Mary Sementilli McKay, 81, of Erie, departed this life and went to be with the Lord on Sunday May 4, 2014, at Pleasant Ridge Manor East, following a lengthy illness. A resident of the Erie area all of her life, she was born in Erie on May 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Nicola and Agnes Sementilli.

She was a graduate of Wesleyville High School and worked at First National Bank, as a bookkeeper, and at D&K Stores Inc., as an assistant manager. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and was an avid reader. She enjoyed crocheting and visiting with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Sementilli and Katherine French; one brother, Joseph Sementilli and his wife Edith.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Charles J. McKay; one daughter, Pamela A. Piotrowski and her husband Michael D. Ziegler of Millcreek; three sons, Gregory C. McKay and his wife Debra of Harborcreek, Daniel B. McKay and his wife Ann of Erie, and Gerald A. McKay and his wife Connie of Erie; one sister, Patricia Rihel and her husband Robert of Harborcreek; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to services there on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
