Almeda R. Sayers Shick, age 93, of Erie, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014. She was born in Fairmount City, Pa. on January 19, 1921, the daughter of the late James and Susie Sayers.

Almeda was an active member of the First Church of God, Pine Ave., where she taught Sunday School, and served on the church board. She was an active member of the W.C.G. and with the Breakfast for the Hungary program. Following her husband's retirement, they enjoyed bowling and playing Uno together. Almeda worked as a Nurse's Aide for 11 years at St. Vincent Hospital, and as a press operator for Fryling Mfg., and then owned Almeda's Daycare until her retirement.

Almeda is survived by one daughter, Patricia Borges; one son, Larry Shick and wife Melody; seven grandchildren, David Borges, Jr. (Kathy), Rachelle Dunar (Dan), Jennifer Briggs (Fred), Michaeline Skarzenski (Steven), Sara Warnick, Carrie Cady (Cory), and Daniel Shick (fianceé, Nicole); 15 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Joseph C. Shick, one daughter, Connie Dornhoefer, two sons, Barry Shick and infant son, Baby Joe, one grandson, Jody Dornhoefer, one great-grandson, Ronald L. Rossman III, one sister, Carrie Powell and two brothers, Irven and Fred Sayers.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Further visitation will be held at the First Church of God, 3510 Pine Ave., on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. Douglas Hepler. Interment will take place at 3 p.m. at Squirrel Hill Cemetery, New Bethlehem, Pa. Memorial contributions may be designated to the First Church of God, 3510 Pine Ave., Erie, PA 16504.
