Russell H. "Russ" Adams, age 64, of Erie, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Erie VA Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born in Erie, December 3, 1949, son of the late Russell E. and Violet Averill Adams.
Russ attended East High School and served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571, VFW
Post 3390, the Moniuszko, Huzars, Fulton, Slovak, the Polish Sharpshooters, St. Mary's Club, the 3rd Street Falcons, the Pulaski Club,the Holy Trinity Club. He worked for General Electric for eight years before he retired in 2011. He was a member of the U.E. 506. Russ also worked for EMI and Hammermill. He loved to fish, spend time at the casino, and was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Giants.
Russ was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard W. Averill and Vincent I. Averill.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Hurta Adams; one daughter, Theresa Adams; his sons, Russell Adams, Jr., Joseph Adams, Norberto Lozada (Lisa), Mario Lozada (Val), Kristopher Nail (Danielle); his first wife, Dianna Hull. Also, six sisters, Patricia Morehouse, Sally (Tom) Dauber, Linda Adams, Carol Madison, all of Erie; Bonnie (Albert) Holden and Connie (John Galfo) Golembeski, both of Florida; one aunt, Charlotte Winslow of Girard; seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends survive.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 11:00. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571. Memorials may be made to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th St., Erie, PA 16505.
