Dorothy "Dottie" Winfield Butler, age 64, of Jacksonville, N.C., and formerly of North East, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

She was a 1968 graduate of North East High School and a graduate of Hamot School of Nursing. Dottie was a nurse with the U.S. Navy. Besides the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, she also worked at Johns Hopkins and Onslow Memorial Hospitals.

Dottie is survived by her husband, David Butler; a daughter, Wendy Ortiz of Jacksonville; a son, Michael Butler of Hilliard, Ohio; two grandchildren; a sister, Bette Eakin of Erie; and a brother, Donald Winfield of Tucson, Ariz.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014, at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with Rev. Ken Kunkel officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant A.R.
