Donald G. Hamme, Sr., age 73, of Harborcreek Township, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Golden Living Western Reserve. He was born in Erie on August 24, 1940, son of the late Frederick and Anna Petersen Hamme.

Donald was a member of East Lake Road Alliance Church. He was a graduate of McDowell High School, Class of 1958, and served in the U.S. Army, during the Cold War Era. Don was employed with General Electric Company for over 25 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and retired employees association. He was previously employed at A.O. Smith for 15 years. After his retirement, he and his wife wintered in Lady Lake, Fla. Don was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club, the Christian Motorcycle Association, the Retreads Motorcycle Club, the Gold Wing Association, and he was an avid boater. He built stock cars, drag cars and boats.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Grimler Hamme; a son, Donald G. Hamme, Jr. (Judith) of Millcreek Township; a daughter, Lenora Robinson (Everett) of Waterford; a brother, Paul Hamme (Karen) of McKean; four grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Michael Hamme (Ashley), U.S. Air Force, Jacob Hamme, Emma Anthony (Randy), Lance Corporal Eric Vogan, U.S.M.C.; and great-grandson, Christopher Hamme. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Wickham.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Road, on Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend the Funeral Service there Friday at 10:00 a.m., conducted by Pastor Rick Rubeis of East Lake Road Alliance Church. Interment will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. The American Legion Carl Neff Post #571 will conduct a full military service, at the cemetery. To send condolences, visit www.dusckasfuneralhome.com.
