Richard F. Mogel, age 85, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Manchester Commons, surrounded by family.

He was born in Erie on July 12, 1928, a son of the late Leo and Hazel List Mogel.

Richard retired from Continental Rubber Works, after 38 years of dedicated service, and was a member of St. George Church. One of his passions was maintaining a garden and beautiful yard, filled with an arrangement of his flowers. After family, his pride and joy was his 1970 Chrysler. The "Big C" was on high display in countless Fourth of July parades. Richard was also a member of the Zukor and Siebenbuerger Clubs. During Erie's cold winter months, after retirement, he enjoyed relaxing in Sun City Center, Florida.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Passmore, Mae Meyer and Hazel Boehm and three brothers, Milton, Russell and William Mogel.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Dumbeck Mogel, three daughters, Nancy Totleben (James) and Barbara Williams (Gary), all of Erie, and Susan Naculich (Gary) of Williamsport, three sons, Richard N. Mogel (Janet), Jimmy Mogel (Deborah) and Joseph Mogel, all of Erie, thirteen grandchildren, Kevin, Michelle, Jacqueline, Jeremy, Shawn, Amanda, Marybeth, Lori, Sarah, Michael, Jamie, Zachary and Brittany, and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call on Friday, at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502, from 2-4 and 7-9, and are invited to the Funeral Mass on Saturday at 9:30, at St. George Church. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com.
