Marian J. Pistory Magee Obituary

Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother & Great Great Grandmother

Marian J. Pistory Magee, age 95, of Erie, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Independence Court, following a brief illness. She was born in Erie on July 24, 1918, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Frances Palmisano Pistory.

Marian was a 1936 graduate of Academy High School and went on to work with the Erie School District as a secretary for 41 years, before retiring in 1990. She was a life member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, South Erie Turners, Uthman Chor, Retired Secretaries of the Erie School District, Mercy Hilltop Center, and a life member of P.A.S.R. She enjoyed volunteering at the St. Mary's Home, and was an avid reader, Bridge, and Pinochle player. She also enjoyed traveling, crosswords, going to the casino, bocci, and bowling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Magee; two sisters, Margaret Pistory and Audrey Cunningham (Jack); one brother, James Pistory (Viola); her Godson, Jimmy Pistory; and her son in law, James Timko.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Timko and Jane Hilbert (William), all of Erie; one son, Donald Magee (Linda) of Erie; six grandchildren, Gregory Timko (Tina), Julie Zelenak (Tom), Donald Magee (Amy), Stephen Hilbert (Nicole), Darlene Vazquez (Luis), and Brian Hilbert (Meghan); 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to a prayer service there on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to 2nd Harvest Food Bank, 1507 Grimm Dr., Erie, 16501, or the Mercy Center for Women, 1039 E. 27th St., Erie, 16504.
