Violet B. Ester Lohse, age 95, of Erie and North East, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Elmwood Gardens, following a brief illness. She was born in Erie on November 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Philip C. and Bertha Schlicker Ester.
Violet graduated from Academy High School and went on to attend floral school in Cleveland. She worked at Knoblogh Electric as office manager and was co-owner, along with her husband, at Lohse Flower Shop in Wesleyville. Most recently, she worked at First National Bank for a number of years. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, especially at Eastland Bowling, and golfing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Lohse; one brother, Elmer Ester; and one sister Marion Balthes.
Survivors include two sons, Robert P. Lohse and his wife Nancy, of North East, and Kenneth A. Lohse and his wife Judy, of Erie; four grandchildren, Christine Lohse, Kenneth M. Lohse and his wife Margie, Suzanne Lent and her husband Richard, and Elaine Gavio and her husband Joseph; and two great grandchildren, Sarah and Owen.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and are invited to services there on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private in Erie Cemetery.
