Jack L. McIntire Jr. was received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 29, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Erie on November 15, 1951, he is the son of Joyce Brooks McIntire, of Erie, and the late Jack L. McIntire Sr.

Jack was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them in their various activities. He had many interests including gardening, fishing, hobby trains, woodworking, coin collecting, local history and sports. He was a fan of the Steelers, Pirates, and the Celtics, and attended many pro games over the years.

Jack was a history and economics teacher for the Millcreek School District for 39 years, from 1973 until his retirement in 2012. With his love of sports, he became involved in local school athletics and had many years of service. At McDowell High School, he served as the assistant athletic director and he started the athletic training program, which exists today. Jack later took on the role as PIAA District 10 chairman for wrestling, cross country, and track and field, and was an assistant tournament director for softball.

For his dedication and hard work, Jack received numerous awards including the first ever Erie Times News Varsity Cup Lifetime Achievement award, and he will be honored Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Millcreek School District Board Meeting where they will dedicate the McDowell High School athletic training room in his name.

As a hard worker and excellent provider for his family, Jack also enjoyed other professions. He had an interest in cinema and worked many years at various local and out-of-town theaters and drive-ins. He eventually became manager at several of these theaters. Jack enjoyed attending the Union City Christian and Missionary Alliance Church with his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jack L. McIntire Sr. and his grandmother, Florence A. Brooks.

Mohr McIntire, whom he married February 2, 1974; his mother, Joyce McIntire; three children- Renee Leigh McIntire Barnard and her husband Roy, of Oxnard, Calif., Jack Hunter McIntire and his wife Heather, of Waterford, and Joe Tyler McIntire, also of Waterford.
