On June 30, 2014, the loving and vivacious Geraldine Harris, affectionately known as "Gerl," made a peaceful transition. Geraldine was born on July 22, 1954, to the late Johnny and Helen Logan Harris.

Geraldine was a lifelong resident of Erie. She was a devoted and attentive mother of five children. She was a graduate of Academy High School, and held many certifications in the health care field, where she worked for various local health care providers, until retiring early, due to unceasing health issues. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her sisters and other family members, in her spare time, by playing cards, dancing, and listening to her vast selection of music, which was exhibited by her distinct bobbing of her head. She attended several churches throughout Erie. During Gerl's youthful years she played softball for various teams in the historical black league at 18th and Downing, and was also in a pool league. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. She was well known and loved by many for her bubbly, carefree, and joking personality that will live on forever in our memories.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Harris, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Scott L. Harris, Corey L. Harris, Telly A. Harris, Telena H. Harris and Desiree L. Harris, all of Erie. She is survived by ten grandchildren including Khalique Harris, whom she helped raise and a Goddaughter Potha "Shay" Boyd. She is survived by five sisters, Delores Bibbs of Charlotte, N.C., Marcia Gray (Yale), Dessie L. Harris (William Jackson), Loraine Harris Watford, and Eula Harris Martin, all of Erie. She also leaves behind very close friend Deolis Edwards.

The family will be accepting visitors Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m., at the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 E. 21st Street. Funeralization is by Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave.
