Ada Elsie (Batchelor) Stachera passed to her next journey on Monday, June 30, 2014. She was born January 4, 1924, in Portsmouth, England, a daughter of the late Arthur George and Lottie (Twiselton) Batchelor. She met her husband John while he was stationed in Milchbourne, during WWII. They were married September 18, 1945.
Ada was a quiet person, happiest when she had a cup of tea, a good book, and her beloved cats. She was always interested in political news shows, especially when there was a spirited debate between the left and the right. She had a great curiosity about spiritual matters, and wondered at length about faith, and what exists that we cannot see.
Her daughters and her grandchildren will tell you that the greatest gift they received from Ada was the love of reading. She was a librarian assistant for many years, at the Erie County Library, Liberty Plaza Branch.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John J. Stachera; a brother, Arthur Stanley Batchelor; and a sister, Enid Batchelor.
Ada is survived by her daughters, Eleanor (Stachera) Teodorski, of Lake City, Pa., and Elaine Stachera, of Las Cruces, N.M. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Teodorski and his wife Jess, of Mooresville, N.C. and Emily Teodorski, of Pittsburgh; and two great-granddaughters, Raina and Phoebe Teodorski, of Mooresville, N.C. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
No calling hours will be observed. Private services and inurnment, at Laurel Hill Cemetery, will be handled by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Boulevard. Memorials may be made to Because You Care, P.O. Box 54, McKean, PA 16426, or Orphan Angels, 5439 West Lake Road, Erie, 16505.
