Joseph H. Bohrer, Jr., age 86, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born December 26, 1927, in Erie, Pa., a son of the late Joseph H. Bohrer, Sr. and Mary (Lanagan) Bohrer.

Joe was a graduate of Cathedral Prep and also the Spartan School of Aeronautics, with a degree in meteorology. He was the owner and operator of Bohrer Electronic Services. He was previously employed at Jerge Service Station, Cohen Auto Parts, the Winter Company, and Fulton Piano and Organ Company. He had a lifelong love of aviation; Joe soloed for the first time at age 15. He held a private pilot's license, up until the time of his death. He loved music and he enjoyed playing the keyboard for family and friends. Joe was intellectually curious and had an active mind. He was a voracious reader and loved to discuss a variety of topics. In recent years he enjoyed taking "the girls" from Curry Schell on many road trips.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Behan) Bohrer on July 23, 2006.

He is survived by three daughters, Joanne Carney of Bellingham, Wash., Mary Rennie (Robert) of Erie, Lisa Kerr (Michael) of Whitinsville, Mass.; four sons, Joseph Bohrer (Kimberly) of Erie, Mark Bohrer (Debbie) of North Andover, Mass., Christopher Bohrer (Debi) of Hudson, Ohio and Michael Bohrer of Erie; 21 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Bohrer (Eileen), David Bohrer (Pat), Gerald Bohrer (Mary Jane) and Gregory Bohrer (Marlene), all of Erie; and one sister, Mary Jo Reinelt (Frank) of Erie.

Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street, at Greengarden Blvd., on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a prayer service at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Peace Church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
