Julia M. Sonnenberg, age 78, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at her residence. She was born in North East, June 23, 1936, daughter of the late Ezra Baumgart and Emelie Lauridsen Baumgart Maxwell.
Julia was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a graduate of Academy High School, Class of 1955.
Julia was employed with Erie Lumber as a secretary and was previously employed by Burnham Lumber, and the credit office of Sears and the former Boston Store. She enjoyed square dancing with the Squaw's and Pa's, and also enjoyed boating and snow skiing.
Julia is survived by her husband of 59 years, Raymond E. Sonnenberg; one daughter, Jill Sonnenberg of Erie; two sons, Jeffrey Sonnenberg (Sherri) of Grand Island, N.Y., and Garrett Sonnenberg (Lori) of Yorktown, Va.; four grandchildren, Lisa Luczak (Michael) of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Gabriel Sonnenberg of Yorktown, Va., Brittney and Meghan Sonnenberg, both of Grand Island, N.Y.; one great-grandson, Aiden Luczak; best friend, Patricia Rarick; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Road, Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Private interment, North East Cemetery.
