Dorothy A. Connolly, age 84, of Erie, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center.

She was born in Erie on January 23, 1930, a daughter of the late Daniel and Emma Smith Connolly.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Erie. She graduated from St. Joseph Grade School, Academy High School, class of 1947, and St. Vincent School of Nursing. She retired from the VA Hospital in 1985 after 30 years of service as a registered nurse and floor supervisor. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, watching sports on TV, trips to the casino, and traveling to many different countries and throughout the U.S. She previously was a member of Lawrence Park Country Club and lifetime member of St Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community, where she served on many different committees over the years.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Sr. Kathryn Connolly, SSJ and Margaret (Jane) Connolly; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack & Shirley (Pierce) Connolly; two brothers-in-law, Robert H. Schultz and Victor Pierce; and a special great-nephew, Mark A Benzel.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Pierce and Bette Schultz (Paul) Miller; and a brother and sister-in-law, Daniel (Patte) Connolly; 24 nieces and nephews, 49 great-nieces and nephews, and 18 great-great-nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Sarah Reed Nursing Home and her special friend, Laura Tracy, for giving her such wonderful care.

Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc., 2502 Sassafras St., Erie, PA 16502 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community at 11 a.m. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com.
