Dorothy "Dot" Mae Griffis, age 86, of Albion, passed away at St.Vincent Health Center on Saturday, July 12, 2014. She was born July 29, 1927 in Conneaut, Ohio, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Brady.

Dot was a member of Albion Assembly of God Church, where she was treasurer for the Missionary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her cat, and she loved her church family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Griffis, in 1999, a son, Harold Griffis, two brothers, William and Paul Brady, and two sisters, Naomi Myers and Ruth Lawrence.

Dot is survived by nine children, Dolores Andersen of Girard, Doris Aleksiewicz and her husband, Ronald, of Girard, Russell Griffis and his wife, Katheryn, of Williamsport, Pa., Dale Griffis and his wife, Shelia, of Conneaut, Ohio, Chuck Griffis and his wife, Maggie, of Albion, Nancy Norton of Albion, Deborah Knapp and her companion, Dennis Conklin, of Albion, Clinton Griffis and his companion, Sue Barnes, of Albion, Teresa Black and her husband, Christopher Sr., of East Springfield, one brother, James Brady and his wife, Ruthie, of Erie, one sister, Blanche Lawrence of Kelloggsville, Ohio.

Also surviving are many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., at the Albion Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Allan Thorpe, officiating. Burial will follow in Albion Cemetery.
