Francis Eugene "Gene" Burkley, 82, passed away on July 15, 2014, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa. He was born January 20, 1932, in Latrobe, Pa., to Paul and Florence (Hogan) Burkley. He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1949, and Saint Vincent College, Latrobe. He married Rosemarie Kuzemczak (Derry, Pa.) in 1953.

He was a Major in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked in the banking and finance industry, until retirement. He was a member of Saint George, R.C. Church, in Erie, Pa.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Florence Burkley, and his brother Jim Burkley of Wayland, Mass.

Gene is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; his brother Raymond of Sunnyvale, Calif. and sister Anna Marie Spiardi of Greenville, Pa.; his sons Robert ( Pittsburgh), David (Pittsburgh), William of Ventura, Calif., Bruce of Erie; and his daughters, Barbara Donohue of New Hope, Pa. and Janine Will of Phoenix, Ariz.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Saint George Church, 5145 Peach St., Erie, Pa., at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26th, 2014. In accordance with his final wishes, he will be cremated.
