Jeanne D. Boughner, 86, a 60 year resident of Naples, Fla., died Thursday, July 17, 2014. She was the oldest of eight children born to Dr. Raymond and Dorothy Rickloff.
Jeanne graduated from Vincent Strong High School in Erie, Pa., and attended Harcum Junior College for a year and a half, before eloping with David Van Veenschoten. After a honeymoon in the Florida Keys, the couple settled in Erie.
In January of 1956, Dave and Jeanne moved to Naples with their daughters, Bonnie and Valerie, and Dave began building houses. Jeanne was very active in the early Naples Players, both in acting and doing hair and makeup. She became a Life Member. Jeanne was also a wonderful artist and member of the Naples Art Association. She did portraits of Dr. John Meli and his wife, and Tracy Spencer, minister of the First Presbyterian Church, where Jeanne played the organ. Jeanne was also a member of the Naples HistoricaI Society and volunteered as a hostess at Palm Cottage. In 1958, their son, Edward Vincent Veenschoten was born, one of the first babies born in the new Naples Community Hospital.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husbands, David Veenschoten, Thomas Lawrence, and Jackson Boughner; and two of her brothers, Allen and John Rickloff.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie Jill Veenschoten, Valerie Van Veenschoten Fickey (Smokey), Edward "Ned" Vincent Veenschoten (Betsy), Elizabeth "Betsy" Lark Veenschoten , Johanna Paul Veenschoten, and Amelia "Amy" VanDruff Veenschoten Joiner; 14 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Bob Wallace, officiating.
