Jax Ethan Stone, 9, of Erie, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie on November 11, 2004, a son of Sean Stone and his wife Lisa and Tara Braendel Durian and her husband Steve.

Jax attended Tracy Elementary School. He was selfless, brave, courageous, and always helped and cared for others. He enjoyed video games, and loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and deck hockey.

In addition to his parents, survivors include one sister, Jordan Stone at home; two brothers, Nick Pold and Colton Durian, both at home; his grandparents, Harry and Vicki Stone of Erie, Tom Braendel of Erie, and Tony Durian and his wife Kathy of Johnsonburg, Pa.; his great-grandfather, Robert Montgomery and his wife Sandy of Erie; his aunts and uncles, Dave Stone and his wife Kelly, Tom Braendel and his wife Lynn, Tracy Braendel, Jessica Braendel, Aaron Braendel, Jason Durian, and Rebecca Robinson, and Aaron Pold; many dear friends including, Jacob Ziner and Macy Testa; many great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins; and his Tracy Elementary School family.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m., with family present from 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Services will be Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m., at Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Jax Stone Fund at any PNC branch.
