Michael J. Veshecco, age 66, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at UPMC Hamot. Born in Erie, on September 29, 1947, he was a son of Elizabeth (Bartone) Veshecco, of Erie, and the late Michael J. Veshecco.

Michael was a graduate from Gannon and Dickinson Law. He was the Erie County District Attorney from 1979-1987, a member of Carney and Good Law Office, and later held a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, and worked in the office of the General Counsel for Governor Tom Ridge.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith R. Veshecco, and a beloved pup, Don Vito.

Michael is survived by his mother; a son, Nathan M. Veshecco, of Yellow Springs, Ohio; a daughter, Kira L. Lugo, husband Brian, of Yellow Springs, Ohio; four grandsons, Alex, Zach, Max, and Noah Lugo; and three siblings, Kris Petulla, husband John, of Erie, Gary Veshecco, wife Marla, of Erie, and Lisa Veshecco of New York City. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mike was a generous man, and often cited his love for giving to others. He was keenly aware of the struggles of less fortunate souls around him, and dedicated his life - in law, in family, in love - to helping people in need.

He was a collector of tropical fish, films, watches and memories. In 2004, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of living out west, spending time in both Tempe, Ariz. and Santa Cruz, Calif. He was a dreamer and a journeyman at heart, and his life is best immortalized by this famous blessing: "May the wind always be at your back, and the sun upon your face."
