Nicole M. (Filipy) Shaw, of Lake City, joined her mother with the Lord, on Friday, August 15, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital Pittsburgh.

The daughter of Dale Filipy of Pahrump, Nev. and the late Coleen (Slager) Filipy of Grand Forks, N.D., Nicole was born November 6, 1974, in Grand Forks, N.D.

Nicole graduated from Red River High School in Grand Forks, N.D. in 1992. She received a degree in Medical Coding from the University of North Dakota, following graduation.

On August 22, 1998, she married Chad A. Shaw of West Hickory, Pa. They began their life together at Grand Forks Air Force Base, and later moved to Lake City, Pa., in 2005, to raise their family together.

Nicole loved spending time with her children, family, and walking through the woods with her dogs. She was actively involved with her church, and enjoyed the fellowship of the small groups they attended.

Nicole will be greatly missed by her husband Chad, their children Kacie and Branon, and her son Christian Brend of Washington State.

She will also be greatly missed by her father Dale Filipy, in-laws Eugene and Nancy Shaw, brothers James Filipy and Shane Filipy (Amanda), brothers-in-law Chip Shaw (Jasa) and Corey Shaw (Amy), in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial service at the Grace Church of McKean, 7300 Grubb Road, McKean, on Friday at 5 p.m., with Pastor Derek Sanford.

Memorials may be made to the Grace Church, in Nicole's memory. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edder Funeral Home, Inc., Girard.
