Mary Lou McKenna, age 85, of Millcreek, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014, at UPMC Hamot, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Mary Lou was born on July 25, 1929, daughter of the late Edna Bodecker Schupp and Robert Stewart. She was raised in Kane, Pa. and Jamestown, N.Y.

She was a graduate of Jamestown High School, and attended nursing school in Washington, D.C.

Prior to her marriage, she was a nurse at a Jamestown, N.Y. hospital. Following her marriage, her greatest love was her family, and her life was spent caring for them and her home.

Mary Lou was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She was especially skilled in needle point and enjoyed making greeting cards.

She enjoyed spending summers at her camp near Warren, Pa., and winters at her home in N. Fort Myers, Fla.

She was a member of St. Julia's Roman Catholic Church for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her best friend and loving husband of 57 years, Robert L. McKenna, who passed away in 2006, and a brother Robert Stewart.

She is survived by two daughters, Beth Respecki and her husband Jim, and Shelley Evans and her husband Steve, both of Millcreek; one son, Robert McKenna and his wife Sharon, of Florida, six grandchildren, Leslie Respecki Bioni, Jamie Respecki, Mary Beth and Emily Evans, and Ashley and Tori McKenna, and four great-grandchildren, Shane, Ryan, Brooklyn, and James. She is also survived by a brother, John Schupp and his wife Candice, of Jamestown, N.Y.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.), today, Wednesday, August 27, from 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10 a.m., at St. Julia Church, 638 Roslyn Avenue.

Interment will be private, in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
