Edward J. "Snuffy" Farrell, age 85, of Summit Township, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Sunrise Assisted Living at Presque Isle. Ed was born in Erie on May 15, 1929, son of the late John and Ida Farrell.

Ed was employed at Haibach's Meat Packing and then Tool-All Mfg., prior to retirement. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, loved to polka and square dance, and listen to Blue Grass Music.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Farrell; brothers, Joe, Ron, Manuel, and Carl Farrell; sister, Irene Swanson; grandson, Roger Jay Watkins; and stepson, William Trainor, II.

Survivors include his beloved wife of twenty years, Florence Trainor Farrell; his children, Edward Farrell (Susan), Barbara Watkins, Rebecca Anderson (Paul), Michael Farrell, and Vicki Bertges (David); stepdaughter, Penny Young (Terre); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff of Sunrise and to hospice nurse, Michelle, and hospice aid, Mary, for their wonderful care of Ed.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m., conducted by Msgr. Robert Brugger. Interment will be in Mount of Olives Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the -Greater PA Chapter, 1128 State St., Suite 301, Erie, PA 16501, or to Hospice of Metropolitan Erie, 202 East 10th St., Erie, PA 16503.
