Clarence C. Darby, Jr. Clarence C. Darby, Jr., 73, 4004 Nancy Ave., passed away Monday, September 14, 2009, at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born October 14, 1935, in St. Matthews, S.C., son of the late Clarence Darby, Sr. and Mary Seawright Darby. He moved to Erie as a young child and graduated from East High School where he played on the Metro Championship team in 1954 and also played baseball. He was employed in the Shipping Dept. at Kaiser Aluminum from which he retired after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Post #700 of the American Legion. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Clarence enjoyed going to the racetrack, was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan and Cleveland Browns fan, and was instrumental in organizing bus trips for Post #700 to the games. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by them all. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Coleman Darby; a brother, John Darby; and two sisters, Minnie Aiken and Marie Frail. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Charles Michael Darby, Erie; a daughter, Chris Elizabeth DeBerry, Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Tanika, Michael, Kiara, Brandon, Joshua, Jordan, D’Andre and Addison; two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Kelal; nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., at Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., and may attend a funeral service on Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Shiloh Baptist Church, 901 East 5th Street, with Rev.
