Mary M. Kierzek Copple, age 60, a resident of Erie passed away Friday , February 26, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 11, 1950 in Erie the daughter of the late Joseph and Ellen Burger Kierzek. Mary was a graduate of Mercyhurst College with a degree in Art Education. She thoroughly enjoyed the times spent with her family and friends and was the one who made everyone else laugh. She fought cancer for nine years and was an inspiration to many who were just beginning their own treatments at the Cancer Center. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Timothy Kierzek. Mary is survived by her husband, John R. Copple; two daughters, Jennifer Copple and her boyfriend Kyle Longstreet, of Erie, and Buffy Lee, of Oil City, along with a son John Copple and his fiancee, Michelle Schultz, of Erie. She is the sister of Kathleen Meyer and her husband Gary of Erie and Jo-Ellen Gorniak and her husband Gary of St. Augustine, Fla. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Taylour Lee, Erin, and Joseph Copple along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. Memorials may be left with the family.
