Jack L. Gilbert, age 78, of Millcreek, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Hamot Medical Center. He was born in Oil City, Pa. on October 1, 1931, the son of the late William and Gertrude Shattenberg Gilbert. He was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Erie Plating. He had attended Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church. He is a Past Master of Perry Keystone Lodge No.392, F. & A.M., and was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Erie, York Rite, VFW Post No. 5958, in Titusville, American Legion Post No. 368, in Titusville, Jerusalem Council No.33- R. & S.M., Temple Royal Arche Chapter No. 215. He was also a member of the Erepa Grotto where he was in the Pipe Band for 30 years. He is survived by his wife Lois Brown Gilbert, whom he married 50 years ago on April 23, 1960; two sons: William Gilbert and his wife Beth, of Erie, David Gilbert and his wife Wendy of State College, Pa.; a brother Wendell Gilbert, of Erie; three grandchildren: Cody, Kalie, and Olivia. Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street at Powell Ave., Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. including a Masonic Service conducted by Perry Keystone Lodge.
