Robert L. Marsh, 86, formerly of E. South Street, Corry, died Monday, August 2, 2010 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie after a brief illness. Mr. Marsh was born January 19, 1924 in Lake Worth, Fla., son of the late William L. and Juel M. Cady Marsh. He was raised and educated in Corry where he graduated from Corry High School in 1942. Following high school, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Corry and began employment for Thomas Motors in Corry. He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Corry. For the last seventeen years with the post office, he was a rural carrier. Mr. Marsh retired in 1987 following forty years of service. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Corry where he held numerous positions, including church treasurer, Sunday School and Bible study teacher, Youth Director and was a member of the church choir and men's quartet. In addition, Mr. Marsh served on the FUMC Building Fund committee and also various other boards and committees of the church. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing softball, golf and bowling. Mr. Marsh was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was a driver for the Corry Unit of the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife, D. Joan Marsh, whom he married November 24, 1945 in Corry. He is also survived by two daughters, Kathleen Jo Gordon and her husband, Glenn of Pittsburgh and Darlene Annette Fairchild and her husband, Mark of Huntington, Ind.; a son, Greg Marsh and his wife, Marsha of Erie; ten grandchildren, Jim Gordon and his wife, Kate, Kari Hutchison and her husband, Greg, Lucas Marsh and his wife, Nicole, Laban Marsh and his wife, Megan, Levi Marsh and his wife, Kim, Lamech Marsh and his wife, AnneMarie, Peter Fairchild and his wife, Mindy, Hannah Hischier and her husband, Jason, Ennea Fairchild and Malina Fairchild; nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Landon, Mackenzie and Liam Marsh, Caleb and Charliann Hutchison, Javan and Cali Gordon and Lucy Fairchild. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center Street, Corry on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and may attend a funeral service at the First United Methodist Church on Friday at 11 a.m. Rev.
