Edward Lewis Carson, age 57 of Erie, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on October 6, 1952, a son of the late William H. and Willie Estelle Pinkston Carson. Edward graduated from Academy High School in 1971 an active member of the Legion Post 771. He was a member of the "Players" softball team and was also a coach in the Challengers League of softball. He also loved to watch his granddaughter play softball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Willie Belle Carson, Evelyn Williams, Dorothy Lofton, and two brothers William Henry Carson, Jr. Roosevelt Carson, his first wife Linda Crockett, mother-in-law Violet Shauberger, his brother-in-laws Jonathan Gates, Frank Lynch Jerome Ward, and his nephew Shawn Carson. Survivors include wife of 18 years Cynthia Shauberger Carson; seven children: Andre Carson (Michsella Babcock), Melissa Jones, Shantell Jones, Edward Lewis Williams of Cincinnati Ohio, Angelica Dunn (Delvon), Johnathan Carson, Ashley Carson (Andre Henderson); brothers: Walter L. Carson, Robert Carson (Barbara) of Tampa Fla., Anthony Carson (Gwendolyn), Gary Carson (Jacquelyn), James Carson (Donna), Craig Carson, Aaron Carson and Charles (Bertha) Carson; sisters: Johnnie Mae Ward, Alice Carson; sisters and brother-in-law: Mary Fiolek (Jim), Sandra Caldwell (Don), Patricia Kamholz (Chuck), Michele Gates, John Shauberger; 17 grandchildren, He had a special place in his heart for his granddaughters Nikia and Adreanna, five great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews as well as special friends Raheem Horton and Henry Copeland. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services on Saturday at 1 p.m. at One in Christ International Church, 324 East 18th Street.
