Josephine Marcella (Swan) Thoms, born December 6, 1932, went to be with the Lord March 22, 2012 following a valiant battle with cancer. Josephine, of Albion, Pa., was the daughter of the late Hugo and Mary Swan of Point Chautauqua, N.Y. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard James Thoms, on March 31, 1991. Also preceding her were four brothers and four sisters. A loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she spent her life caring for children and those she loved. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and was active in area senior centers. She attended the Federated Church of East Springfield. She is survived by brothers, Edwin and Everett , and sister, Clara Boland all of the Chautauqua, N.Y. area. Also surviving are her children, James (Carol) Thoms, Tampa, Fla., Timothy (Susan) Thoms, Tampa, Fla., Rebecca Bennett, Columbus, Ohio, and Debra (Will) Rogers, Albion, Pa. and eight grandchildren: Tim, Jim, Chris, Kathy, Jeremy, Josh, Alicia, and Hilary, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, March 25th at the Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, from 2 p.m. until time of services at 4 p.m. led by Pastor Ed Huntley from the Federated Church.
