Virginia Carr Rabe Obituary
Virginia Carr Rabe, 73, of Millcreek, died Saturday morning, April 28, 2012, at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness. A resident of Erie most of her life she was born in Clearfield, Pa., a daughter of the late Ernst and Elmira Fishburn Carr Storch. Virginia was a 1956 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and went on to work as an office operations supervisor with the VA Medical Center for 27 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Bible Club. She enjoyed participating in her card club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Rabe; one son, Michael Rabe; one brother, Harold Carr; one sister in infancy; and one sister-in-law, Jeanne Carr. Survivors include five daughters, Sr. Diane Rabe, OSB of Erie, Margaret Laughlin of Louisville, Ky., Patricia Rabe of Louisville, Ky., Ginny Caldwell and her husband, William, of Erie, and Kathleen Adams and her husband, Stacy, of Louisville, Ky.; three sons, Richard Rabe and his wife, Cynthia, of Jefferson, Ohio, Carl Zimmerman and his wife, Susan, of Erie, and Paul Zimmerman and his wife, Barbara, of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Duane Carr and his wife, Joan, of Erie and Bill Carr of Big Bear, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Ruth Carr of Lemoore, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and her puppies. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a memorial service there on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
