Robert Lindsey Obituary

Robert L. "Bob" Lindsey, 70, died peacefully at his home on Lindsey Hollow Road, Corry, Pa., on Sunday, May 27, 2012, following an extended illness. Bob was born in the old Corry Hospital on February 7, 1942. He graduated from the Corry High School in 1960 and then from Slippery Rock State University in January 1966. After graduating, he taught thirty one and a half years in the public schools of Ridgeway, Youngsville, and Corry before retiring in 1997. In addition to teaching, he owned and operated a small farm. He attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Corry, Pa. Bob was active in coaching wrestling for 17 years, and was responsible for starting the Youngsville, Pa. High School wrestling program and the Corry High School Trap Shooting Club. He was a member and past president of the Corry Area Historical Society and a facilitator for the American Cancer Society's "Man to Man" Program. Bob also belonged to the Corry Rod and Gun Club, Sparta Sportsmen's Club, and had been a coach for the CASD Trap Club. He also enjoyed woodworking and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Lindsey and his mother Dorothy Blakeslee Lindsey. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Paula E. (Jay) Lindsey, whom he married on June 4, 1966 in New Castle, Pa.; four daughters, Kellie and her husband Jon Miller of Magnolia, Texas, Corrine Anderson of Corry, Carrie and her husband Jason Biondi of Corry, Pa., and Kristen and her husband Dale Behm, Swansboro, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Curtis, Jessica, Seth, and Lincoln Miller, Johanna Bennett, Troy, Trae, Tanner, Robyn and Tyler Biondi, Ethan and Lindsey Behm. He is also survived by two brothers, Leroy "Cap" Lindsey and his companion Charlotte Froncek of Corry and Lavern "Skip" Lindsey and his wife Virginia of Corry, several nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends. Friends may call at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 721 Hatch St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 11 a.m. Rev. James Moffett will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg, Pa. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Corry High School Trap Club, in care of the Corry Rod and Gun Club, P.O. Box 298, Columbus, PA 16405, Corry Christian and Missionary Alliance Academy, 721 Hatch St., Corry, PA 16407, or the Regional Home Health and Hospice, 13675 Route 6, Corry, PA 16407. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bracken Funeral Home Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa. 16407.
