Angelo Panos, age 82 of Erie, passed away at his home, Monday, June 4, 2012. He was born in Allegheny County on April 3, 1930, son of the late George and Efrosini Patmidis Panos of Chania, Crete. Angelo graduated from Academy High School, Class of 1948, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army in Occupied Japan as a medical lab technician. After returning stateside, he attended Gannon College. Angelo was a well known restaurateur in Erie and founded many restaurants including Panos New York Lunch and Panos Family Restaurants. The whole town sat down at his dinner table where he welcomed them all as family. There were many good conversations at The Round Table. Angelo was an avid golfer and a past member of Lakeview Country Club. He was a former member of Scottish Rite Valley of Erie and Zem Zem Shrine; a former board member of Harborcreek School for Boys; and a founding member of the Erie Chapter of A.H.E.P.A. Angelo is survived by his wife of 58 years, June Pappas Panos; a son, Gregory Panos and his wife, Stephanie Theodorou-Panos; a daughter, Pamela Panos Lagace and her husband, Pierre Lagace; six grandchildren, Jourdan Lagace, Stephana Panos Ferrell, Alexi Panos, Evan Lagace, Chanelle Lagace and Kristopher Panos; one great-grandson, Jaxson Lagace; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home, 4216 Sterrettania Road on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A private service will be held with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
