Dr. Paul R. Baltzer DDS, 81, formerly of 18 Meadville Road in Union City, Pa. began his journey, which no man returns to this earthly realm, to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie, Pa. Dr. Baltzer was a devoted loving spouse and best friend to his wife Geraldine A. Baltzer, who passed away before him. He was an exemplar role model to his children and grandchildren as well as a consummate professional, who practiced dentistry in Union City, Pa. for over forty years. When it was time to be serious, he was the Rock of Gibraltar and a man to look to for direction and strength. When times were pleasurable and jovial, he enjoyed life as through the eyes of a child. He was born on August 31, 1930 in Schuylkill Haven, Pa. being the only child of Paul Franklin Baltzer and Violet A. Baltzer. He was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, class of 1948. In October of that year, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Petty Officer Third Class as a Radioman. He was stationed onboard the USS Jeffers DMS-27 during the Korean War. After his enlistment, he graduated from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. and then attended Dental School at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. Shortly after graduation in 1961, Paul moved with his family to Union City, Pa. and took over an existing dental practice. Dr. Baltzer was a member of Eureka Lodge #366 Free and Accepted Masons in Union City, Pa. Though before his passing he was no longer active, he enjoyed being part of organizations such as the Zem Zem Shrine, Scottish Rite Valley of Erie, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lions International (District Deputy), Union City Sportsman's Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his daughter, Valerie A. Baltzer; son, Paul D. Baltzer; daughter in law Brenda J. Baltzer; grandsons, Paul R. Baltzer and John L. Baltzer.
