Herbert E. Rogers, 95, of Corry, Pa., died at St. Vincent Health Center on Sunday, September 30, 2012. He was born on October 22, 1916 in Spartansburg, Pa., a son of the late Jesse and Clara Smith Rogers. Herb was raised and educated in Spartansburg, graduating from Spartansburg High School. His first job after graduation was in Jamestown, N.Y., with Lang's Bakery where he sold baked goods house to house with a horse drawn wagon. He then worked at Marlin Rockwell Corporation in Jamestown. In 1943, he returned to Corry and worked at Precision Products. In October of 1945, Herb began work with Corry Jamestown Corporation as a welder. He worked there for 36 years and retired November 1, 1981. Herb was a member of the West Spring Creek Congregational Church. He was a member and treasurer of Lodge #1097 IA of M and the Corry Central Labor Club for many years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, reading, dancing, playing cards and working jigsaw puzzles. In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez Clark Rogers on May 20, 1965 and his second wife Norma Wright Rogers on July 12, 1972, his third wife Jane Mattice Martin Rogers on April 19, 2004, a step-son Charles Martin, six sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren; Alexus Chenell Rogers and Cheyanne Elizabeth Rogers. Herb is survived by a daughter Darlene Whitman and her husband Lloyd of Corry, Pa., and a step-daughter Faith Morrison and her husband Neal of Panama, N.Y., a son Dennis Rogers and his wife Sharon of Corry, Pa., and three step-sons; Vincent Gates and his wife Ann of Jamestown, N.Y., Russell Martin and his wife Sherri of Union City, Pa., and Robert Martin and his wife Karen of Spring Creek, Pa. He is also survived by six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 4 p.m. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
