Richard C. York, " Gramps," age 93, passed away Friday October 12, 2012 at the Manchester Presbyterian Lodge. He was born in Erie June 7, 1919 a son of the late Joseph and Nellie Delaney York. Richard was a veteran of WWII serving as a sergeant with the Army Air Corps. He was a metallurgist at the General Electric Co. for over 35 years. After retiring from GE he worked for York-Seaway for 15 years, retiring in 2005. He was a founding member of Mount Calvary Church, a member of American Legion, Post #0571 and a member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He was a former member of the Lakeside Association. He loved going to Las Vegas. Richard had a great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Helen Chesley, Genevieve Halloran, Loretta Parmenter, Joseph York Jr., Kenneth York, Robert York, Mary York, Dorothy Schu-Silva, Henrietta McGarvey and Betty Ore-Karlson. Richard is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen M. Iesue York, three children, Kathleen A. Forish, Barbara J. York and Ricky R. York and his wife Janet, all of Erie; six grandchildren, Mark Hopsecger, wife Shelli of Washington, Matthew Hopsecger of Erie, Brian Forish of Ohio, Shelly York-Ferritto of Erie, Sarah Loschiavo and her husband John of Connecticut and Daniel York of Erie. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and a sister Martha Nelson of Erie. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd. Services will be held there on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John Detisch. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to Manchester Presbyterian Lodge or a .
