Esther C. (Woods) Cosner, age 86, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012, at Presque Isle Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Born in Midland, Maryland on October 9, 1926, she was a daughter of the late James and Stella Woods. She had been a machine operator at Richlyn Manufacturing Inc., and was also a TV hostess at the former Doctor's Osteopathic Hospital. Esther was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Knights of St. John, and the Erie West Senior Center, where she loved playing bingo and cards. She was the "best mom in the world", always good to her kids and a great lady to her friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Lee Cosner, Sr., in 1982, her son, Grover Lee Cosner, Jr., in 2011, two sisters, Mary Harris and Veronica Winters, and three brothers, Edward, James and Francis Woods. Survivors include her children, Rich Cosner, Susan Kindle, and Carolyn Robinson, husband Richard, all of Erie, and Mary Ann Shafer, husband John, of Huntington, Pa.; and a grandson, Jeremiah Shafer, wife Angela, of Huntington. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, and may attend a funeral service there on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
