James R. Skinner, Jr. age 64, of Erie, passed away on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on November 2, 1948, the son of the late James R, and Beulah Huey Skinner, Sr. Jim was a 1968 graduate of McDowell High School and a 1976 graduate in Tool Design from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree from the Pennsylvania Gunsmith School. Jim was employed at Lord Mfg. for 33 years, retiring in 2010. He also worked as a gunsmith. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. Jim was a life member of ABATE, NRA and was affiliated with the Gem City Outdoorsman's Club. He was a volunteer with the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. and the Kearsarge Volunteer Fire Dept. Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, target shooter and a staunch supporter of the U.S. Olympic shooting team. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lotzow; one son, Jessie Skinner; one daughter, Shawna Mayer (Robert) and five grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Skinner. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service there at 8:30 p.m. Private Interment will be held.
